Tesir-i Aşk (The Effect of Love), Şair Nigâr
Tesir-i Aşk is a tragedy in three acts. Cevvale, who is in love with her nephew Adalet, is to be married to the son of an acquainted family. She keeps her love a secret from her parents because she is too afraid to speak about her feelings. Cevvale's hopeless situation weakens her, she becomes ill with tuberculosis and dies. Adalet is so stricken by her death that he commits suicide. The play ends with the lament of Cevvale's parents and their sad recognition of the mistake they made.
The characters in the play Tesir-i Aşk are all, apart from the doctor, members of the family. The first act consists of seven scenes, the second act of four scenes, all taking part in the family's living-room. The third act shows Cevvale's bedroom.
The play was first transcribed into Latin characters by Dr. Olcay Önertoy and published in 1978.
